Get some fresh air - 9 ideas for playing outside

Are you coming outside to play? Children not only love playing outside, it's also incredibly good for them. For healthy and balanced physical and mental development, playing and exercising in the fresh air should be part of every child's daily routine. There are countless ways to keep busy outside, but have you ever considered taking indoor play materials outside? It's a fantastic option and also brings a new perspective to the game. We present nine ideas for how GRIMM'S play materials can also provide great fun outdoors.

Collect

Children love collecting. And where could they search and find more than in nature?! We absolutely love taking the bowls and boxes outside. Everything has a place in them, and the treasures can be admired at home for a long time.

Sort

Discovering colors, in particular, is a lot of fun and a wonderful way to connect with nature. With our sorting boards, you can assign flowers, leaves, stones, etc., to their respective colors. Nature is so colorful!

Build

Building can be done indoors and outdoors, that's for sure. Things get really interesting when indoor play materials are combined with outdoor materials. The versatility of our rainbow makes it especially easy to integrate it into outdoor play.

Roll

Anything with wheels is perfect for taking outside. Our cars and pull-along animals love to go off-road sometimes ;) And with the bridges, you can create adventurous routes for anything that can roll.

Place

Another great fun activity is creating picture puzzles. You can really get creative with these. Simply create a picture using colorful play materials, such as semicircles or pebbles, and complement it with chalk drawings or natural materials.

Splashing

Playing with water is always a favorite with children. It's simply a fascinating element. Our sand yachts, in particular, are practically crying out for a little boat ride. Our play materials may be made of wood, but they're still perfect for water games if you keep a few points in mind, which we've compiled for you below.

Sandals

Sand also seems to have a magical attraction for children. Whether in the sandbox at the playground or on vacation at the beach, wherever there's sand, they'll start playing. Our bowls and boxes are perfect for filling it or baking sand cakes.

balls

Have you ever built an outdoor marble run? It's a lot of fun, and the possibilities are endless.

Play

If you want to breathe life into small play worlds and inspire their imaginations, simply take them out into the grass or the forest. These tiny little friends will experience the wildest adventures in this vast world in children's hands.

Full of new gaming energy

In our experience, bringing our play materials outside has a hugely positive effect – even on subsequent indoor play. They gain a different perspective and are charged with new play energy. This naturally sparks creative ideas that they might not have thought of before. It's worth trying!

Every scratch is a token of love

Of course, you have to expect that playing outdoors with wooden toys might leave marks on them. This could be color fading from the sun or slight warping from water. Major damage is generally not to be expected. Nevertheless, we believe it's always worth taking the toys outside and playing with them to your heart's content. Because every single scratch and every sign of wear is essentially a token of love and shows that every mark left behind by life enriches us with experiences. Every scratch tells a story of childhood and is therefore beautiful.

Tips:

After extensive play in nature, there are a few helpful tips that we would like to recommend to you so that your GRIMM'S play materials last a long time.

- Traces from outside can be easily wiped off with a damp, lint-free cloth and, if necessary, a little mild soap.
- If the sand is wet, we recommend letting it dry first and then gently brushing off the dry sand grains.
- Do not leave the play materials in water for long periods of time.
- Dab wet wooden play materials lightly with a dry cloth and then let them dry at room temperature (not on the heater and not in the sun).

So go outside and have fun with our play materials in the garden, in the forest, on the beach, on the balcony...!
